About Camaran

A guide, not a guru.

You’re the one doing this work. My job is to make sure you’re not doing it in the dark.

The missing piece.

When I was a little girl, my family was putting together a puzzle. An octagon-shaped scene from Romeo and Juliet, Juliet in the foreground in a pink ball gown. We searched everywhere for the last piece and couldn’t find it. My parents lifted the puzzle to carry it into the other room, and there it was, sitting right underneath where the puzzle had been.

I ran to show them, filled with joy.

I’ve spent my life doing some version of that. Finding what’s hidden just beneath the surface. Seeing what everyone else has stopped looking for. It took me a long time to turn it on myself.

The long road home.

My story isn’t a straight line. It never is for the women I work with either.

At fifteen, riding down a canyon toward the airport, I told my dad I wanted to be a doctor someday. He said, “You can’t raise a family and be a doctor.” I let that sentence derail the dream. Not because he meant to hurt me, but because I was young, and I took it to mean something much bigger: that I would have to choose between having a career and having a life.

I’ve spent years untangling that belief. I’ve since met hundreds of women carrying their own version of it.

What followed was decades of becoming. Two marriages and two divorces. More moves and reinventions than I can count. Thirty years building and running a business on my own, figuring it out through trial and error. Then the pandemic, when a silence I hadn’t chosen finally made me stop running long enough to hear my own voice. I discovered, with some relief, that I liked who I found there.

Why I do this.

I don’t want you to spend decades on a journey you could travel in months.

I don’t want you to wait for a second divorce, or a cross-country move, or a global pandemic to force you into stillness before you finally hear yourself.

I want to walk with you. To hold space that makes it safe to tell the truth. To ask the questions that open the doors. To help you find, more quickly and more gently than I did, the woman who has been there all along.

The missing piece is always there. Sometimes we just need someone to help us find it.
